I just wanted to share with you my AWESOME homemade cookies that the kids & I made for Santa. Ok, they weren’t awesome, but they took some extra time to make to get them to turn out just right.
Nope, I can’t even get simple chocolate chip cookies to come out right. In my defense, I had come down with a cold & couldn’t smell anything. Nothing. Not burning cookies, not the dog’s mess by the front door, not the vapor rub my husband slathered on me. But that’s alright. I’m happy that I didn’t set the oven on fire in the midst of burning them (although that might get me the new oven that actually cooks at a proper temperature!) My kids thought it was hysterical. And they were especially happy that the additional batches allowed them to stay up an extra 30 minutes. I sure hope Santa could see that we put some extra effort into getting his cookies just right.
All I can say is my kids had a blast & we couldn’t do anything but laugh while they made fun of me. After the third & correctly cooked batch was out of the oven & plated for Mr. Claus, I scooted them off to bed.
Then I burned 2 more batches.
If you’ve read my blog before, you know that this isn’t the first mess up I’ve had and no doubt it won’t be the last. But it’s part of who I am. I am a mess, especially when it comes to my domestic aspirations. Sometimes it’s counterproductive, aggravating, and down right annoying…and that’s just how I feel about it. (Can you imagine how others feel?!!!) But it’s also how a lot of memories are made, lessons are learned, and my flustered-ness (I don’t think that’s a word, but it is now) turns into comedy.
This blog, and my life for that matter, is NOT where you will find perfection. I am a hazardous human being stumbling my way through life on the pure grace of Jesus & the patience of my husband.
With that being said, I gotta wrap this up. My husband says the lasagna is burning….
